Local & Regional Elected Officials Invited to Participate in 2007 Vancouver Pride Parade

Mayor Sam Sullivan and City Councillors Tim Stevenson and Elizabeth Ball today invited local and regional elected officials to participate in the 2007 Vancouver Pride Parade. This year’s event takes place Sunday, August 5 – proceeding from Denman Street to Pacific and Beach Avenues to Sunset Beach.

“The Pride Parade demonstrates our community’s commitment to inclusiveness and human rights,” said Mayor Sullivan. “I want to encourage all of our municipal colleagues to celebrate these values and join us for this year’s event.”

“The Pride Parade and festival is one of Vancouver’s premier events,” said Councillor Tim Stevenson. “In addition to celebrating our diversity, the parade helps reinforce Vancouver as a primary destination for GLBT travelers.”

“The Pride Parade is an annual event we all look forward to,” said Councillor Elizabeth Ball. “It represents an opportunity to celebrate our successes and renew our resolve to combat discrimination and intolerance.”

Vancouver’s Pride Parade & Festival is a nationally and internationally recognized parade and festival attracting 140 entries and close to 300,000 people. To access a parade application, contact www.vancouverpride.ca. To volunteer, contact volunteer@vancouverpride.ca.
