A beaming Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan says next April will be a great time to showcase Vancouver for the federal Liberal leadership convention.
The party has decided to hold its big vote here.
Rumours surfaced recently the convention may have been moved back east.
Sullivan says he’d asked the party to commit to the convention just a short time ago, “Certainly, key people in the Liberal party in British Columbia were very, very pleased to see me take a public stand and really go to bat for British Columbia, for Vancouver, and I’m very, very excited about the fact that we’ve been successful.”
Sullivan says the convention will mean about $15 million pumped into the local economy.
The convention is set to run from April 30th to May 3rd.
