Mayor Sam Sullivan is inviting residents and visitors to enjoy one of Vancouver’s favourite annual events, the Fair at the PNE, as it opens this Saturday with free admission from 9:00 am to noon.
“The Fair at the PNE is a wonderful tradition enjoyed by families throughout Vancouver and from across the Province,” said Mayor Sullivan. “By making the event free to everyone on the morning of August 19, I hope we will see not only long-time fans of the Fair, but also people who will be attending for the first time.”
This year’s Fair kicks off with a charity pancake breakfast in support of Variety the Children’s Charity at 9:00 am, followed by a youth performance and favourite daily attractions such as the Superdogs Show, MarketPlace, Pacific Horse Show, Playland rides and the Celebration Parade honouring British Columbia’s sports heroes.
“This year’s Fair promises to be the most spectacular yet, and I congratulate all of the PNE staff and volunteers for their hard work in putting together an event that the entire community can enjoy,” Mayor Sullivan added.
Owned by the City of Vancouver, the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) is a healthy and vibrant non-profit charity organization dedicated to providing first-class cultural, sporting and family entertainment events. Founded in 1910, the PNE operates from a 114-acre site at Hastings Park. It attracts, on average, three million visitors a year.
