It was dubbed as a ‘roast’ but out-going Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan was mostly ‘toasted’ during a Board of Trade sponsored luncheon.
Wheelchair athlete Rick Hansen was one of many who praised the Mayor especially for his role at the Torino Olympics, “Probably one of the greatest moments was when he was in Torino and there he was accepting that flag on behalf of Vancouver and this country preparing for the Olympic Games in 2010.”
Sullivan delivered a moving speech and at times seemed near tears, “I hope my work at City Hall has been helpful; I hope I have made the City a better City.”
Sullivan says he feels like the luckiest man alive because of what he’s experienced in spite of his disability.
