Mayor Sullivan Congratulates Vancouver Giants on Memorial Cup Victory

On behalf of the City of Vancouver, Mayor Sam Sullivan congratulated the Vancouver Giants organization, players and coaching staff for their historic Memorial Cup victory Sunday.

Mayor Sullivan also recognized the outstanding work of the host event committee for organizing the most successful Memorial Cup ever.

The Vancouver Giants defeated the Medicine Hat Tigers 3-1 in the Memorial Cup championship game yesterday at the Pacific Coliseum.

“The entire Vancouver Giants organization has made our city very proud,” said Mayor Sullivan. “Coach Hay and his staff did a great job of motivating a very talented group of young hockey players. The Giants have shown that hard work and perseverance can pay off in the end.”

The Mayor and City Council colleagues will formally mark the Giants’ win tomorrow at City Hall.
